Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Explorers and Planners parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
